Available evidence has shown that having birth companions is a low-cost beneficial intervention that is vital in improving quality of care during labor and delivery. In light of this, we are currently in collaboration with JHPIEGO on a study in Nasarawa and Kano States to evaluate the impact of the intervention package on coverage of BCs during labor, delivery and postnatal period. The study will further evaluate the impact of the intervention package on experience of care; the feasibility of implementing the intervention package; and the acceptability of the intervention package.
